Denmark midfielder Matt O’Reilly has officially been unveil as Brighton & Hove Albion’s new signing on a long-term deal until 2029.

Brighton & Hove Albion have officially announced the signing of O’Reilly on a five-year deal, with the player set to stay at the Amex until June 30, 2029.

O’Reilly completed a medical with Brighton on Monday morning before signing and becoming head coach Fabian Herzeler’s sixth new signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Ibrahim Osman, Jankuba Minteh, Mats Weffer, Brajan Gruda and Jorginho Rutter.

The transfer fee Brighton paid Celtic has not been officially disclose, but Ufabet Sports reported it to be £30m, with £26m up front and £4m in add-ons.

Born in London and developed in Fulham’s academy, O’Riley has Danish roots and represents Denmark at the international level. He has made two appearances for the Danish national team but was unexpectedly left out of the squad for Euro 2024.

To recap, Brighton defeated Manchester United 2-1 at home in the second round of the Premier League, following a 3-0 victory over Everton in the first round.

The 23-year-old midfielder, who has an English father ยูฟ่าเบท and a Danish mother and was born and raised in London, joined Celtic from League One side MK Dons in January 2022 and has become a key midfielder and enjoyed his best season, scoring 19 goals in 49 games in all competitions in 2023-24.

O’Riley becomes Brighton’s seventh signing of a busy summer that includes a £40m club-record deal for French forward Georginio Rutter from Leeds and Netherlands midfielder Mats Wieffer joining from Feyenoord for about £25.5m.

Hurzeler’s side are second in the Premier League after beating Everton and Manchester United in their opening two games of the season.
